This is an award that is presented each year at the Quaker Valley High School Football Banquet and is presented to the player that exhibited one of the highest levels of committment to preparing themselves during not only the regular season, but more importantly, the offseason. This is generally the player that has one of the highest offseason attendance rates, exhibits leadership and determination during their workouts and is a role model for dedication to offseason preparation.
In 2013, the Lifter of the Year Award was renamed and dedicated following Zach's passing. Beginning with the 2014 season, The Zachary John O'Neill Memorial Foundation was proud to begin presenting a scholarship award to the receipient of this honor.

The Zachary John O'Neill Memorial Foundation was created and a Scholarship program was established to be awarded to the recipient, in the amount of $500
​
2015
Board of Directors approved an increase in the scholarship amount to $1,000
​
2018
Board of Directors approved an increase in the scholarship amount to $2,000
